Twitter said followers of the Trump administration would not transfer to Biden

Twitter said on Tuesday it would not automatically transfer millions of followers of official Trump administration accounts to the incoming biden administration, instead giving users the opportunity to continue or continue.

This action will affect government-led followers such as the White House and OT Potus, which will be transferred Joe Biden When he took over the presidency in January.

Of Twitter The decision does not affect the personal account @realDonaldTrump, which is frequently used by the President Donald Trump And has 88 million followers.

Official government accounts “do not automatically retain their current followers. Instead, Twitter notifies followers of these accounts to provide context that content will be archived and allows the option to follow the Biden administration’s new accounts,” a Twitter statement said.

“For example, people who follow the White House account will be archived as @ Whitehouse 45 and will be given the opportunity to follow the new ith White House account.”

Twitter has been working for a transition to the platform that Trump has been using extensively since the election results were finalized, and has indicated that as a private citizen Trump may not be so forthcoming in expanding the rules for newspaper comments.

Although not as widely followed as Trump’s personal account, OT Potus has approximately 33 million followers and the White House 26 million.

Twitter said the transfer would affect other corporate accounts such as @VP, FLOTUS, @PressSec, ab Cabinet and aCaCasaBlanca.

Last month, Twitter suggested any special treatment for Trump ending his presidency.

“Twitter’s approach to world leaders, candidates and government officials is based on the principle that people should be able to choose what their leaders are saying with a clear context,” the San Francisco agency said.

“This policy draft applies to current world leaders and office bearers, and not private citizens when they no longer hold these positions.”
