Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Review – Pros and cons, Verdict | 91Mobiles

[ad_1]

The Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition Not about design. In fact, the performance of the handset is also solid. Key specifications of Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian include MediaTek Helio G96 SoC, 120Hz refresh rate screen, 5,000mAh battery, 33W fast charging solution and 64MP primary camera with RGBW+(G+P) lens. I’ve been using the device for a hot minute and here’s what I’m getting out of it.

judgment

Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition does not support 5G or Rs. A smartphone under 18,000 doesn’t have the processing capabilities, but it’s still an attractive option. Along with its funky design, the handset offers good performance, all-day battery life, a fluid display and cameras that hold up well, at least in daylight.

  • The Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition is the latest in the color changing design bandwagon. However, unlike its counterparts, the color-changing design of the Tecno smartphone is anything but subtle. In fact, the design of the handset was inspired by the paintings of Pierre Mondrian, one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. The back of the handset is separated into different rectangles, which display blue and purple colors when exposed to sunlight or ultraviolet (UV) light. It can be credited to the phone’s polychromatic photosomer technology, which allows the smartphone’s monochrome back cover to show multiple colors in illumination. Not only that, but the thick lines that separate one rectangle from the other (and also enclose the camera module) add to the phone’s overall appeal.

  • Moreover, the phone offers a good in-hand feel, which can be attributed to the smooth flat edges of the phone as well as the matte finish around the back. The handset does not attract fingerprints or smudges, which is great. I found the Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition to be a bit bulky. In fact, despite its plastic build, the handset tips the scale at 204 grams, which isn’t much but will give your wrists a workout if you’re watching movies or TV shows on the smartphone. The smartphone’s circular camera modules also pop out of the frame and allow the phone to move when placed on a flat surface. When it comes to I/O, the Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition sports a USB Type-C port along with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a speaker grill on the bottom edge. The fingerprint scanner is located on the right side of the phone embedded in the power button.

  • Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition features a 6.8-inch display with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The display also has TUV Rheinland low blue light certification. However, the panel is of the LCD type and accordingly, the high contrast ratio and deep blacks are not matched by competing AMOLED panels. But, otherwise, the display is very bright and offers pleasant viewing angles as well. I had no problems using the phone in direct sunlight. I also enjoyed watching movies and TV shows on the handset as the Widevine is L1 certified and supports content from Netflix and other streaming platforms at 1080p resolution. Furthermore, the display sports slim bezels, which pave the way for an immersive viewing experience, and the centered punch-hole for the selfie camera doesn’t distract too much.

  • The Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian is powered by the MediaTek Helio G96 SoC, which is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of user-expandable storage. If you run out of physical RAM, the latter can be used to add up to 5GB of virtual RAM to store some temporary files. When it comes to performance, the Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition didn’t stutter while juggling a few Chrome tabs along with my email app of choice, Slack, Netflix and WhatsApp. Apart from that, the handset is no slouch for some light gaming and can easily run titles like Asphalt 9 and PUBG New State at very low frame rate and graphics settings. The phone scores well in benchmark tests as well. To wit, the device returned a score of 1,752 points in Geekbench’s multi-core test, while it scored 3,49,999 points in AnTuTu. However, the G96 SoC seems a bit outdated now and the chipset has been succeeded by the G99 SoC. In fairness, both the chipsets offer similar performance, however, the Helio G99 SoC has an edge over the Helio G96 SoC in the benchmark. Tests.

  • In terms of optics, the Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition has triple rear cameras with a 64MP RGBW+(G+P) primary sensor that uses a white sensor instead of a green one to capture more light. The primary sensor is accompanied by a 50MP portrait/telephoto lens with 30x zoom (2x optical) and a 2MP sensor. Up front, the handset has a 32MP snapper for selfies and video calling. The sensors delivered detailed shots with good highlights in both sunny and cloudy conditions. That being said, colors looked more saturated and made an otherwise dark shot brighter. The 64MP primary sensor comes with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) that helps you get a steady shot while shooting video at 2k resolution and uses pixel-binning technology for 16MP stills by default. However, there is an option to shoot 64MP images and it is worth trying. The sensor also focuses quickly, thanks to the accompanying laser autofocus module, and offers eye detection for subject tracking.

  • A 50MP portrait/telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom performs well in ideal lighting conditions. Although the lens can digitally zoom up to 30x, I wouldn’t recommend going beyond 5x as shots look grainy and underpowered. Portrait shots have good edge detection and background blur. Portrait mode also works in videos. The 32MP selfie camera delivers good skin tones and facial detail when the sun is out. That said, Portrait mode’s edge detection could do with a few tweaks. In low light, the front and rear cameras reduce noise levels with SuperNight mode, which smooths out details, which automatically kicks in when needed but also has special access to the camera layout. Other than that, the cameras locked onto the subject quickly and the photos didn’t take much time to process. The phone also offers a film mode, which includes preset themes for short videos.
  • The Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition packs a 5,000mAh battery that has a long-lasting backup and will see you through at least a day on a single charge. The phone scored 15 hours and 28 minutes in the PC Mark battery test. In normal smartphone usage, I consistently get a full day of battery life with about 15-20 percent juice left in the tank. Moving forward, the handset comes with a 33W fast charging solution that can charge the phone from 0-100 percent in an hour and a half.

  • Software-wise, the Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition runs HiOS V8.6 on top of Android 12 out of the box. The UI has all the features, including dark mode and call recording, but the experience isn’t close to stock Android. In fact, the skin comes with a ton of bloatware and sends unnecessary notifications, which also clutters the user’s notification tray. On the bright side, the Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition’s side-mounted fingerprint scanner is one of the fastest sensors I’ve tested to date. The phone’s 4G LTE and dual-band Wi-Fi also work well, while the single bottom-firing speaker delivers good sound quality.

Final judgment

The Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition comes in just one configuration: 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, priced at Rs 17,999 in India. It’s not a bad price to be honest, but it fails to undercut some of its competitors, including it Redmi Note 11 Pro. The latter rocks the same chipset as the Tecno smartphone but offers a 120Hz refresh rate AMOLED screen, 108MP primary camera, IP53 rating and a 67W fast charging solution. Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition also faces heat from this Moto G62 5G (Review) is priced at Rs. 17,999 and also brings a 120Hz IPS LCD screen, a near-stock version of Android and a Snapdragon 695 SoC to the mix.

The Tecno Camon 19 Pro Mondrian Edition comes with an eye-catching design and a color changing scheme that is sure to grab some attention. The Tecno smartphone also offers a telephoto lens, which is rare in the price range, along with a dependable primary sensor, an excellent screen and a snappy fingerprint scanner. All said and done, while not the fastest in its segment, Tecno’s latest deserves a second look.
