In Q2 FY 2022, Sony shipped 3.3 million PS5 units, with 25 million units sold since launch. The company also sold 62.5 million games, 6.7 million of which were first-party titles. Despite the decline in PS Plus subscriptions, PlayStation’s total revenue rose 10 percent to ¥116 billion. Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki said, “Now more people are going outdoors and we are not yet out of the negative cycle. Sales of PS4 and third-party software are also sluggish, and sales of catalog titles are also declining. Sony cited increases in game development costs and acquisitions such as Bungie. Apart from these, the company also said that it has hedged against the negative impact of foreign exchange rates and reduced third-party games as well as add-on content.
