Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus, or Snapdragon 888+ will launch in the second half of this year. We have not yet seen the arrival of most smartphones with the Snapdragon 888, the flagship SoC launched in December, but reports of its plus variant have already begun. According to Tipsters, we can expect the 8821 Plus variant to come in the second half of 2021, which makes sense since Qualcomm usually has a mid-year refresh.
So far, the Xiaomi Mi11 has been released with Snapdragon 888 and it has been confirmed that the IQ7 will be launched on January 11 with the new chipset. Many other brands have also announced smartphones for 2021, including Qualcomm’s newest SoC. This includes the Samsung Galaxy S21 and OnePlus 9 series.
According to a Weibo Post Through the Tipster digital chat station, Qualcomm will launch the Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC in the second half of 2021. Other than that, there is no information about the rumored chipset. This tip is in line with Qualcomm’s traditional timeline, launching a mid – year refresher for its SoCs. For example, the chipmaker announced Snapdragon 855 Plus In July 2019, as an upgrade to its flagship chipset. The same thing happens with the Snapdragon 865+ Enabled In July 2020.
Tipster claims that the American chipmaker has captured the Snapdragon 888’s GPU frequency at 840MHz to prevent OEMs from overclocking the chip on their devices. This means that the Snapdragon 888 Plus will be a smaller upgrade than the Snapdragon 888 – similar to the Snapdragon 865 and 865 Plus. Snapdragon 865 Plus Sued To boost performance by 10 percent over the Snapdragon 825. According to Qualcomm, its Adreno 650 GPU is only 10 percent faster than the GPU in the Snapdragon 865.
