OPPO Reno 9 chipset tipped, may feature Snapdragon 778G SoC: specifications


The Reno 9 series is expected to come with a 4,500mAh battery with UFCS support, making OPPO one of the first to adopt the new UFCS. Much less than 40W charging support 80W charging speed is supported by Reno 8 series.

The latest leak suggests that the new Reno 9 series will be powered by the slightly older Snapdragon 778G rather than the much speculated Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 or MediaTek Dimension 800 series SoC. Currently, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Reno 8 Pro is only available in the China variant and Xiaomi Citizen 2And limited to phones sold in the Chinese market.

It looks like a downgrade to the Reno 9 series processor as the competition is all set to launch smartphones featuring more powerful and efficient new generation chipsets.

As for the Snapdragon 778G, it is a mid-range 5G SoC that has a maximum clock speed of 2.4GHz. While smartphones equipped with this processor have so far delivered excellent results in terms of their daily performance and gaming, the upcoming contemporary smartphones will be powered by newer and more powerful processors.
