OnePlus 8T Concept smartphone unveiled with color-shifting back panel that detects gestures

Launches OnePlus 8T Concept smartphone based on the OnePlus 8T flagship. It comes with a brand new back panel with color-changing film. This image can change colors from dark blue to light silver. The OnePlus 8T Concept also has a millimeter wave (MMwave) radar module on the rear camera bump to enable touchless controls and a breath monitor. The concept phone was edited by a team of 39 designers from Shenzhen, Taipei, New York and India.

Unlike regular OnePlus 8T It has a simple glass back and the OnePlus 8T Concept features the newest rear covering with designs inspired by natural elements. Behind the glass back panel is a color-changing film that contains metal oxide on the glass and can change its color from dark blue to light silver. OnePlus The image changes between the two colors when the metal oxide is activated.

This allows the OnePlus 8T concept to illuminate the back when receiving new notifications. Whether the experience is about you getting a new message or how the notification is called by LED light, the technology used by OnePlus prominently illuminates the patterns on the back to attract your attention.

In addition to the new back design, the OnePlus 8T concept includes a mmWave radar module that transmits and receives electromagnetic waves. It allows the inbuilt digital signal processing (DSP) unit and CPU to receive the device from the waves to perceive, image, detect and track objects. Consumption cases are similar to the time-off-flight (TOF) sensor, although OnePlus says the radar is not affected by the environment.

The presence of the MmWave module allows the OnePlus 8T concept to use touchless gesture controls, including ‘double tap’ and ‘remote detection’. These can be used to accept or reject a voice call by covering the camera module with your hand. You can also cover the camera to change the color of the back cover of the phone.

In addition to initiating gestures, OnePlus claims that the MMWave module can also record your breathing to synchronize the colors on the back. The module uses software algorithms to measure respiration, recording millimeter level movement of the chest during breathing.

It is worth pointing out that inbuilt radar is not required 5G MmWave networks to enable gesture controls. This means that the new technology can work in markets, including India, where 5G is not yet public.

The OnePlus 8T Concept will not be available for commercial purchase in the market. However, OnePlus has plans to evaluate the progress used in the concept device, some of which will be available in its future offerings.

Back in January, OnePlus brought OnePlus Concept One As its first concept phone. The model was developed in collaboration with a British motor racing team McLaren And Features an electrochromic glass panel At the top of the camera setup behind it can be made transparent or opaque to reveal or hide the camera sensors.
