Lava Agni 5G OTA update rolled out in India

Airtel and Jio are currently offering 5G services in select cities and plan to complete pan India availability by March 2024. However Vi (Vodafone Idea) has not specified a specific timeline for now.

Lava has released an OTA update to enable 5G

The Lava Agni gets an OTA update that enables 5G network support on the phone. This allows users to enjoy the latest network benefits of both Airtel and Jio. For those not following the latest developments, access to 5G is still very limited as the network is currently only available in select cities.

Airtel 5G Plus Now available in eight citiesIncluding Hyderabad, Delhi, Varanasi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Siliguri, Nagpur and Chennai. On the other hand, there is Jio Announces 5G ‘Welcome Offer’ It offers unlimited 5G data but the beta trial is limited to those who get the invite. The network is available in Varanasi, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.

The Lava Agni is the brand’s first 5G offering in the country and is powered by the MediaTek Dimension 810 SoC. Speaking on the FOTA update rollout, Lava International Product Head Tejinder Singh said.. It is always our aim to provide frequent software updates to our users to improve the overall experience. Our teams quickly rolled out the FOTA update for the flagship AGNI 5G smartphone after the government announced the rollout of 5G services earlier this month..”

The Lava Agni sports a large 6.78-inch FHD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 2460×1080 pixels resolution, Punch-hole cutout and narrow bezels. Powering the phone is a MediaTek Dimension 810 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which is further expandable via microSD card. The handset boots Android 11 OS.

There’s a quad-camera setup at the back, with a 64MP primary camera with LED flash, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro lens. There is a 16MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats.

Connectivity features include 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS and a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfers. The Lava Agni 5G packs a 5000mAh battery and it supports 30W fast charging. There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security.
