No, the iPhone 14 Pro Max units sold in China are not manufactured in India
Back in September 2022, Apple confirmed that the iPhone will be manufactured in India and the units will be exported to other countries with a ‘Made in India’ tag. However, the brand has never mentioned anything about manufacturing the premium iPhone 14 Pro Max in India, which has become the news of the day. However, Apple is not manufacturing iPhone 14 series high-end models in India.
To recall, Apple started manufacturing iPhones in India back with the iPhone SE and has since produced models like the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series units. This time, it is manufacturing only iPhone 14 in India along with China. However, this does not apply to the top-end iPhone 14 Pro Max units.
Apple has reduced its dependence on China
According to a JP Morgan analysis, India is said to be the next big hub for manufacturing Apple products, thereby reducing the company’s dependence on China. By 2025, one in four iPhone models in India will be manufactured in India, the report said. Perhaps in the next few years, the company will be able to manufacture Pro models in India but for now, Apple is not doing so.
In addition to iPhones, Apple is said to make AirPods and Beats Audio products in India. Recently there were reports that Tata Group is in talks with Taiwanese supplier Wistron Make iPhones in India.
