Google Pixel 7 Pro camera samples: check out the new Super Res Zoom feature


The first set ‘highlights the World Trade Center from afar with images showing detail of the main antenna, starting at 0.5x zoom and up to 30x. 30x is the largest zoom magnification offered on a Pixel device to date.

Pixel 7 Pro Super Zoom

Google showcased the Pixel 7 Pro’s Super Res Zoom feature that debuted in flagships. Alexander Schiffhauer, the company’s product manager, shared an image gallery showcasing the feature’s prowess. Initially, the Pixel 7 uses a 2x zoom, Super Res Zoom technology that crops images taken by the 50MP main camera.

Zooming in further, the upgraded 5x 48MP telephoto camera kicks in with Super Res zoom. It takes advantage of the processing power of Google’s Tensor G2 SoC for a new machine-learning autofocus algorithm. Zoom stabilization helps capture detailed images at 15x, 20x and 30x magnification.

Older Pixel phones will get some Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro features with the upcoming update. The Pixel 7 Pro has a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 48MP telephoto lens. The vanilla Pixel 7 has a 50MP primary camera and a 12MP primary camera sensor.

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro feature a 6.3-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 6.7-inch LTPO QHD+ display with a punch-hole cutout for the selfie shooter and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. They are powered by the Tensor G2 chipset paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The phones run on Android 13 OS.

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro have the same 11MP selfie snapper. Powered by a 4,700mAh battery with 30W fast charging support, the 7 Pro has a faster 30W charging speed.
