Farmville, one of the most popular games on Facebook, will close on January 2 by publisher Zinga. The development was shared on Twitter by Zinga chairman and co-founder Mark Pinkus. Farmville has been playing on Facebook for 11 years and, according to Pinnacles, played an important role in the evolution of gaming. While Pinnacles did not share the reason for closing the game, he shared some insights into the development and some behind-the-scenes things with Formville.

By one Series of tweets, Mark Pinkus Zinga – Developed and published studio Farmville On Facebook In 2009 – shared the journey of how the game is. The game is available to “busy adults” and it has given them a way to invest and express themselves and be creative. “People thought Farmville was a kind of etch-a-sketch,” Pinkus shared. Farmville is the first game to impact big data and almost everything has been tested and optimized, he added. It was inspired by Happy Farm, Farmtown and other farm games that had a large number of daily active users in 2008 and 2009.

Zinga then acquired Miminife and drove its engineers toward a farm game, and the team advanced to Farmville. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg asked Pinnacles to send all the content for the game to filter out what Facebook did not want to show. According to Pinkus, Famville became the first major game to use the new game feed as an extension of the core game.

The game was launched on June 19, 2009 and reached one million active users daily by the end of the first week. “Farmville has led a new category of ‘invest-and-express’ games where players can invest time and express themselves to friends and family. Said Pinkus.

However, Pinkus did not share why the team at Zinga decided to close the game after 11 years. According to the announcement, the game will not be available on Facebook from tomorrow, January 2nd.
