You’d certainly be forgiven for forgetting about Motorola’s Moto G Play sub-brand, as the humble handsets are among the most affordable members of the rapidly expanding mid-range. And while the Moto G Play (2022) does indeed offer several improvements over the 2021 edition, it has modest overall specs that are key to its affordability.

On the back, the Android 12-powered G Play (2022) combines a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 2MP macro camera with a 2MP depth sensor, while the selfie cam stays at five megapixels. Power comes from a beefy, 10-watt-capacity 5,000mAh pack, with the model here rendered in navy blue.
