With both Airtel and Jio announcing their 5G services, consumers in select cities can now view and experience the much-awaited fifth-generation cellular connectivity on their devices. In this article, we provide a list of cities where you can experience Airtel 5G Plus and Jio True 5G services in India.
5G launch in India
Telecom operators in India have seen some rapid development in terms of 5G over the last couple of months. From conducting on-site 5G speed demonstrations and tests to partnering with technology companies to buying 5G bands in spectrum auctions, telcos have done it all. There have certainly been a series of delays in between, but all things considered, 5G has officially launched in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi started 5G services in India at India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022. After this, Airtel and Jio have both laid out their 5G rollout plans in India. Airtel 5G services will initially be available in select cities, while Jio will launch its Jio True 5G services in an invite-based phase.

Said to experience Jio True 5G, the telecom giant said the rollout will be invitation-based, where select users will be selected for the “Jio Welcome Offer”. In this program, users can share their experiences and opinions regarding Jio’s 5G services. This will allow the company to iron out any flaws in its network, which will replace the steady rollout when 5G goes live across the country in the next two months. Additionally, users should ensure that they have a 5G-enabled smartphone with an active recharge plan to use 5G services.
